AI must enhance human wisdom, not replace it, says Dr SS Bhatti at an event in city

At the Sector 10 Government Museum and Art Gallery, the 18th First Friday Forum Oration gathered scholars, artists and educators. Dr. Surindera Singh Bhatti delivered his talk “Education and Artificial Intelligence: From Knowledge to Awakening,” describing AI as “Frozen Human Intelligence” and urging that technological progress remain rooted in human values.

He outlined a philosophy of Holistic Humanism, calling for a curriculum that weaves together humanities, art, science and technology. Education, he argued, should move beyond the mere accumulation of facts toward nurturing creativity, critical thinking, compassion and responsible citizenship.

The highlight of the evening was the launch of eight of Dr. Bhatti’s books. Chief Guest Prof. Dr. R.S. Bawa unveiled The Muse of Metaphors, while Prof. Dr. I.S. Dua released Dr Surindera Singh Bhatti (Architect, Poet, Educator, Artist, and Mystic). Prof. Prem Singh presented My Bosom Buddy, Engineer M.L. Garg released Holistic Humanism, Prof. Swati Behl Uppal introduced FUTURELIGHT, Jasjyot Singh Almast offered Wayward Verses (Covid‑19 Creativity in Poetry), Surinder Bahga presented Town Planning and Architecture in India, and Navita Singh revealed Architecture and Art during Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Reign.

The ceremony also honoured five individuals for their contributions to education, science, art and literacy, and recognized the donation of 24 books to new libraries across Punjab, underscoring the event’s commitment to spreading knowledge and cultural enrichment.
