Artist Kiran Dixit Thacker to bring a special exhibition, I Had a Dream…, to Academy this October
Seventy‑nine‑year‑old sculptor Kiran Dixit Thacker, the sole living woman disciple of modernist master Ramkinkar Baij, is mounting a solo show at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
Titled I Had a Dream…, the exhibition brings together roughly 180 pieces from her personal archive, ranging from metal, clay and stone sculptures to paintings and drawings. The works trace a six‑decade journey, rooted in figurative sculpture, informed by geometric forms and a rigorous armature that give her surfaces both strength and depth.
The show opens on 4 October and runs through 10 October, with daily viewings from 3 pm to 8 pm. The inauguration will be attended by eminent Bengal artists and critics such as Mrinal Ghosh, Vikram Bachhawat, Pankaj Panwar and Sutanu Chatterjee.
