Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Metro station hosts immersive heritage art display
Late Friday night the platform walls of the Kempegowda Metro station in Bengaluru became a sprawling digital canvas. Over 16,000 sq ft of surface were lit by a 20,000‑lumen Epson projector, turning the commuter space into the immersive show Stone to Life.
The projection mapped five iconic mythic forms—Yali, Vrishabha‑Kunjara, Gandabherunda, Makara and Kirtimukha—drawn from Karnataka’s temple architecture. Curated by Team Gen O of Mumbai, the visual narrative pulsed across platforms 3 and 4, inviting travelers to pause and absorb a living archive of regional heritage.
Historian Srinivas Sistla highlighted how the display bridges ancient symbolism with contemporary public space, while advertising executives see the technology as a blueprint for future ad‑tech in metros. The collaboration hints at a new role for transit hubs, not just as conveyance points but as dynamic venues for cultural storytelling and digital branding.
