The exhibition “Beyond the Frames” at Kalasrot Art Gallery brings together eight artists in a vibrant dialogue of memory, myth and contemporary vision. With around 28 paintings on view until September 18, the show feels like a tapestry of Indian life.

Ramchandra Kharatmal, a Lalit Kala Akademi award‑winner, leads with quilt‑inspired figurations that turn domestic textures, patterned fabrics and sacred symbols into layered, warm compositions. His work suggests that each personal patch contributes to a larger collective story.

Complementing his voice, Varsha Kharatmal explores quiet interiority and domestic spaces, while Gauri Shanker Soni offers an earthy, sculptural language rooted in Rajasthan’s strength. Umendra Pratap Singh and Sukanta Das navigate the human condition through stark realism and poetic, dream‑like figuration respectively.

The exhibition also highlights C R Hembram, whose Adivasi practice weaves Santal ritual forms and cosmology into a contemporary frame, and Vishwas M, whose material experiments push abstraction toward an urban sensibility. Tarranum closes the show with meditative pieces that dwell on stillness and light.

Together the works form a mosaic where memory, culture and individual perception intersect, inviting viewers to step beyond the literal frames and experience a broader, shared narrative.
