Bhavitha Mandava at WSJ Innovator Awards 2026 as Matthieu Blazy wins fashion honour
Bhavitha Mandava arrived at the Museum of Modern Art for the WSJ Innovator Awards, stepping out in a striking look from Chanel’s Pre‑Fall 2026 collection. The evening celebrated leading figures across music, comedy, film and fashion, turning the historic venue into a runway of ideas.
The fashion accolade went to Matthieu Blazy, Chanel’s artistic director, whose visionary work was highlighted alongside honorees Rosalía, Amy Poehler and Martin McDonagh. A glittering guest list that included Dua Lipa, Cara Delevingne and Ciara underscored the event’s cross‑disciplinary appeal.
Mandava’s ascent is a story of serendipity and perseverance. Spotted on a New York subway while studying at NYU in 2024, she debuted on the runway for Bottega Veneta under Blazy’s direction before following him to Chanel. In December 2025 she broke ground as the first Indian model to open a Chanel show, and a month later she closed the couture presentation as the iconic Chanel bride. This spring she became the brand’s first Indian house ambassador, cementing her role as a trailblazer.
Her achievements signal a broader shift toward greater diversity on the global fashion stage, and the night at MoMA offered a vivid illustration of how new talent can intersect with established artistic legacies.
