Bringing art home: The Front Room Art Gallery wants to connect Northwest artists with the Spokane community

The Front Room Art Gallery opened in July in Spokane’s West End Arts District, offering a home‑like setting for contemporary Northwest art.

Founders Kelly Baker and Chelsea Cordova combine decades of curatorial, licensing, teaching and gallery experience to create a welcoming space where artists and visitors can linger.

The gallery represents 23 artists, showcasing ceramics, paintings, jewelry and textiles in a small salon area anchored by a sofa, inviting guests to imagine the works in their own homes.

Upcoming show “Grand Gestures, Small Wonders” features Spokane‑based mixed‑media artist Renée Oberdorf, juxtaposing her large, textured canvases with intimate small works, offering seasonal gifts and a fresh perspective on scale.

Beyond their own walls, Baker and Cordova now manage the modest Marmot Art Space, extending their belief that art should be part of everyday life for all Spokane residents.

With a bright yellow door, a cup of tea and a commitment to personalized advising, the Front Room aims to grow audiences and prove that the city’s art market is vibrant and inclusive.
