City of Rockingham Castaways Sculpture Awards 2026

Castaways Sculpture Awards 2026 returns to the Rockingham Foreshore from 24 October to 1 November, turning the waterfront into an open‑air gallery. The biennial showcase invites visitors to wander among striking installations crafted from discarded beach finds and repurposed objects.

The programme is divided into three strands: the Main Exhibition, which presents large‑scale works; a Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition highlighting experimental models; and a Schools Exhibition that celebrates emerging student talent. Together they map a vibrant dialogue between art and sustainability.

Backed by Fremantle Ports, the awards boast a $27,250 prize pool that recognises the ingenuity of Western Australian artists. Each piece reimagines castaway debris, turning waste into visual poetry and prompting reflection on our relationship with the coast.

Free tactile tours and artist talks are scheduled throughout the week, offering insight into the creative process and the stories behind each work. The event not only spotlights contemporary sculpture but also underscores a community‑wide commitment to environmental awareness.
