CKHA unveils new sculpture at Wallaceburg site from local artist
The latest addition to the Wallaceburg site is a striking sculpture titled Healing Hands, created by local multidisciplinary artist Tyson Carr. The work depicts an outstretched human hand with a delicate butterfly perched on the index finger, a visual metaphor for rebirth and renewal.
Carr, known for blending nature, physics and the unseen forces of the world in his sculpture and abstract painting, explained that the butterfly represents transformation from cocoon to flight. He hopes the piece will inspire patients and visitors to feel a sense of renewal and hope.
The sculpture crowns a community‑focused art program launched by the health alliance in 2024, which aims to weave calming, reflective spaces throughout its hospitals. Executives praise the piece as a testament to the creative talent thriving in Chatham‑Kent.
