Contemporary Now Edition III brings 66 artists to Chennai
The city of Chennai is set to experience a vibrant display of contemporary art with the Contemporary Now Edition III. This exhibition will feature the work of 66 artists across 10 venues, bringing together leading galleries from around the country to celebrate artistic practice and dialogue.
A conversation was held ahead of the exhibition, titled ‘From Mylapore to Mumbai (and Beyond): The Cultural South in the Context of Contemporary Art’, which discussed various aspects of the art world, including trust and transactions, social media, and the accessibility of original art. The conversation featured notable figures such as Ashvin E. Rajagopalan, Benitha Perciyal K., and Mortimer Chatterjee, and was moderated by lifestyle journalist Prasad Ramamurthy.
The exhibition aims to bridge the gap between the Chennai art scene and the more financially successful art scenes in Delhi and Mumbai, and to provide a platform for artists to showcase their work and engage in dialogue with art enthusiasts.
