From insects to peacocks: Seven children's theme parks to open in Delhi over next three months
Delhi is set to welcome seven new children’s theme parks over a three‑month stretch, a push under the AMRUT scheme that blends urban renewal with playful design.
Each park revolves around a distinct theme, from an insect‑inspired playground near PVR Saket to an octopus world in Ajmal Khan Park, a Garuda motif at M Block Park in Greater Kailash‑II, marine wonders at Swasthya Vihar, and a peacock showcase in Mayur Vihar Phase‑III. Additional sites include an octopus‑themed corner in Karol Bagh and other imaginative corners across the city.
The hallmark is “sculpture play” – large‑scale installations made from reinforced plastic and glass‑reinforced cement fibre that double as swings, slides, balance beams, spiral tunnels and even functional elements like seating and dustbins. Highlights include a spider rope climber, ant‑shaped slides, caterpillar balance beams and beehive spiral tunnels.
Officials say the insect and aeroplane zones will open first, with all seven parks fully operational by January, promising a new kind of interactive urban space that sparks curiosity and encourages active play.
