Gurugram gets a new home for modern and contemporary South Asian art
Gurugram has welcomed a new space for modern and contemporary South Asian art with the opening of Antarang Art Gallery at The Camellias, founded by Sania G Vohra. The gallery aims to foster a community of art enthusiasts and collectors by bringing together art, conversations, and connection under one roof.
The inaugural exhibition, Resonance: The Foundation Edition, features an impressive lineup of renowned artists, including FN Souza, MF Husain, and SH Raza, among others. Rather than a traditional chronological approach, the exhibition explores the connections between artists from different generations, divided into themes such as nature, urbanity, portrayal, and sacred.
Antarang Art Gallery's interactive approach to art viewing was evident on its opening evening, with art writer and curator Kishore Singh leading a conversation that encouraged visitors to share their interpretations of the artworks. The gallery plans to host workshops, live demonstrations, talks, and guided walkthroughs to build an art community in Gurugram and promote engagement with modern and contemporary South Asian art.
