Hundreds of artists expected at Mount Gretna show this weekend
The Mount Gretna Art Show is set to take place this weekend, bringing together 200 juried artists and craftspeople in the historic Chautauqua community. The show will feature a wide range of original work, including sculpture, jewelry, photography, ceramics, and fiber art.
The event will also include musical performances, a food court, and an emerging artists section to highlight new talent. A kids art show will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, and the Mount Gretna International Film Festival will screen at the Mount Gretna Playhouse. The show is ranked among the nation’s top outdoor art festivals and is expected to draw large crowds.
The Mount Gretna area, founded in the late 1800s as a summer retreat, offers a unique and charming setting for the art show, with its Victorian cottages, forested footpaths, and cultural life centered around the open-air Mount Gretna Playhouse. Proceeds from the art show will support cultural programs of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua, the Mount Gretna Volunteer Fire Co., and community projects.
