Jalgaon: R. K. Laxman Art Gallery Inaugurated, ‘Shri Ganesh’ Exhibition Opens For Art Lovers
An eagerly awaited cultural hub has finally taken shape in Jalgaon with the launch of R. K. Laxman Art Gallery. A joint effort by Kanha Lalit Kala Kendra and Ojaswini College of Arts, the gallery occupies space within Mulji Jetha College and promises a fresh platform for local artists, students, and seasoned creators alike.
The inauguration on September 5 was led by MLA Suresh Bhole, and the ceremony welcomed a roster of distinguished guests, including Sahitya Akademi award‑winner and painter Raju Baviskar, Prof Mrunalini Fadnavis, and senior officials of the founding institutions. Their presence underscored the community’s long‑standing desire for a dedicated art venue.
Coinciding with the opening, the Shri Ganesh painting exhibition showcases a range of contemporary interpretations of the beloved deity. Open daily from 11 am to 5 pm until September 14, the show has already drawn enthusiastic responses from art lovers across the city.
Beyond the exhibition, the gallery is positioned to become a vibrant meeting point for emerging talent and established practitioners, offering exhibition space, dialogue, and inspiration. Organisers hope it will nurture creativity and cement Jalgaon’s place on the regional cultural map.
