Johnny Depp’s first sculpture to be unveiled at Istanbul art fair
Johnny Depp's first sculpture, The Bunnyman, will debut as a special project of the Sigg Art Foundation at this year’s Contemporary Istanbul fair. Set against the historic backdrop of Tersane Istanbul, the two‑metre white‑bronze work will stand outdoors from September 22‑27.
The piece portrays a half‑human, half‑rabbit guardian clutching a "sword of truth". Its genesis traces back to a simple sketch by Depp’s 24‑year‑old son, Jack, when he was about five, a drawing that sparked the actor’s own childhood dream.
Developed with Pantheon Art and cast at Milan’s Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, the sculpture arrives alongside Depp’s solo show A Bunch Of Stuff at the Modern Art Museum Shanghai, which showcases more than 200 paintings and objects.
Pierre Sigg notes that the fair’s ability to attract a figure of Depp’s stature signals Istanbul’s growing pull on the international art scene, describing the city as having "earned its place" among major venues.
Depp, who has been producing art for years—his 2022 painting collection sold out in under 24 hours—has long said he uses art to channel personal feelings and honor the people who matter most to him.
