Kalaburagi artist invited to art workshop in Venice
Mohammed Ayazuddin Patel, a photographer and visual artist from Kalaburagi, has been invited to take part in the International Collaborative Art Exhibition and Sculpture Workshop in Venice, scheduled for September 17‑20. The three‑day event, titled Art Beyond Borders: Creative Dialogue Between India and Italy, will be hosted at HU Venezia Camping under the joint aegis of the SMD Foundation and HU Venezia.
The workshop gathers eleven artists from across India—including Karnataka, Assam, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Baroda—alongside a cohort of European creators. It aims to deepen ties between Indian and European art communities through dialogue, collaborative sessions and a series of discussions that explore diverse artistic perspectives.
In addition to the workshop, Patel will join a 15‑day study tour that spans France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Vatican City. Highlights of the itinerary include visits to the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, the Accademia Gallery in Florence and the Colosseum in Rome, offering a rich immersion in the works of masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Picasso.
Patel’s résumé is distinguished by a National Lalit Kala Award (2014), a CCRT National Fellowship (2016‑17) and a senior fellowship from the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy (2018). He has also founded an art gallery, museum and research centre, and his extensive travel record includes visits to the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, China, Kenya, Hong Kong, Macau, Egypt, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
