LFT Fiber hosts free art reception during downtown artwalk
An evening of local creativity unfolded on September 12 as LFT Fiber opened its lobby for a free reception hosted in partnership with the Louisiana Crafts Guild. Part of Lafayette’s Second Saturday Artwalk, the "Connecting Culture & Community Through Art" showcase invited residents to mingle with painters, woodcarvers, metal sculptors, origami artists, and potters.
The exhibition featured an eclectic mix of mediums, from intricate wood carvings and sleek metal sculptures to delicate origami and vibrant ceramics. Visitors could walk among the works, chat directly with the makers, and gain a behind‑the‑scenes look at the state’s thriving craft scene.
Guild president Andre Juneau noted that the event bridges artisans with LFT Fiber’s commitment to local culture, while director Michael D. Soileau emphasized the desire to make the company’s space a gathering point for the community.
The collaboration doesn’t end with the night‑time reception. Selected pieces will travel to the upcoming Festival Acadiens et Creoles in October, sharing space with pieces by Francis Pavy and the UL Ceramics collective, which will also stage live pottery‑throwing demonstrations. The lobby display remains on view through October 7, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., ensuring that anyone who missed the reception can still experience the showcase.
