Local artist Peter Hassen's "Cycles 3" returns to Sonoma to kick off Art Walk
The 96‑inch Corten steel sculpture Cycles 3 by Peter Hassen will be unveiled this week at Sonoma Plaza, officially opening the town’s annual Sonoma Art Walk.
The work consists of three intersecting circular forms etched with bees, birds, frogs, insects and plant motifs, a visual meditation on biodiversity and the interconnectedness of natural systems.
City Council’s unanimous acceptance of the gift marks one of the first acquisitions under Sonoma’s new Public Art Policy, adding a striking piece to a growing civic collection after its earlier appearance in the 2021 “A Delicate Balance” exhibition.
A ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 1, followed by the Art Walk at 5 p.m., with a reception at Modern Art Walk on 521 Broadway. The event is open and free to the public.
