Mersing police personnel turn 1,400 used bottles into giant Jalur Gemilang
In Mersing, about 200 residents and police staff transformed 1,400 discarded mineral‑water bottles into a massive Jalur Gemilang sculpture at the entrance of a housing complex on Jalan Jemaluang. The project, led by the Mersing Police, was assembled in two days and finished on Aug 17.
The effort ties the National Month celebrations to environmental stewardship, showcasing teamwork, recycling and a bid to attract tourists to the district’s sustainable‑tourism zone.
A parallel event saw 116 police personnel and family members hike Mount Arong, where they raised 69 flags at the summit to mark the 69th anniversary of independence—a tradition that began in 2023. The climb promotes eco‑tourism and safe trekking practices.
Local resident Nur Ain Salleh expressed excitement about the decorations and the competition, underscoring the community spirit that fuels these patriotic projects.
