Michael Kors brings graphic stripes and sculptural influences to NY Fashion Week
Michael Kors opened his spring/summer 2027 runway at New York Fashion Week inside the Museum of Modern Art sculpture garden, turning the marble floor into a canvas of bright color and graphic stripes.
The collection married crisp tailoring with sculptural gestures, a tension the designer cited to the work of Carmen Herrera, Alexander Calder and Ellsworth Kelly. A largely black-and-white palette—'it's New York,' he quipped—was punctuated by flashes of red, green and yellow across one-shoulder gowns, two-piece professional sets and striped summer dresses, all paired with the brand’s iconic handbags.
A‑list guests such as Gabrielle Union-Wade, Grace Van Patten and Lea Michele added star power, while the show also signaled a broader brand reset: reduced promotions, revamped stores and a push toward full-price, direct-to-consumer sales after a string of quarterly revenue declines.
