Millet Art Show In Vizag Presents 16 Artworks Listing Human Nutrition Journey

Sixteen striking pieces made from millets line the promenade of Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, opening on World Food Day. Curated by railway employee and millet artist Meka Vijay Kumar, the show turns the shoreline into a visual chronicle of humanity’s shifting relationship with food.

Each work uses the grain to illustrate a stage—from foraging in forests and wild grains, through the birth of settled agriculture and traditional millets, to the rise of industrial processing and fast‑food culture. The progression invites viewers to trace how dietary habits have shaped health, culture and the environment.

At the inauguration, South Coast Railway Divisional Manager Lalit Bohra highlighted the blend of art, public awareness and social welfare, urging the public to re‑embrace millet as a nutritious staple. Kumar explained that six months of research and creation were aimed at making complex nutrition concepts accessible to children, students, farmers and families.

The exhibition underscores a broader message: reviving India’s millet heritage could steer the nation toward a more sustainable and healthier future, reminding visitors that the foods of the past may hold the key to tomorrow’s well‑being.
