Naked Trump statue dubbed 'The Orange Plague' goes on display in European Parliament

Jens Galschiot's 2.5‑metre sculpture The Orange Plague has taken up residence inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The gold‑coated figure shows a naked, obese Donald Trump perched on the shoulders of a gaunt man, one hand mimicking a golf swing while the other clutches the scales of justice.

The work first appeared at the 62nd Munich Security Conference earlier this year, then in a bronze finish. For the parliamentary unveiling the surface was re‑golded, giving the piece a more striking, almost regal sheen. Galschiot, a Danish artist known for politically charged public art, has distributed 10,000 miniature copies of the statue as part of the project.

The installation was arranged through Danish MEP Per Clause, who defended the provocative display as a test of tolerance on the world stage. While the artist has used social media to lampoon Trump and question recent U.S. policy moves, the former president has not responded to the artwork’s presence in the EU chamber.
