New sculpture pays tribute to pioneering city official
Vincent T. Davis has become a trusted storyteller for the people and neighborhoods of San Antonio, bringing everyday lives to the front pages of the San Antonio Express-News. His reporting digs into the human side of the city, turning ordinary moments into compelling narratives.
A former Air Force veteran, Davis began his newsroom journey in 1999 as a part‑time editorial assistant, balancing night shifts with classes at San Antonio College and contributions to the campus paper, The Ranger. That early hustle laid the foundation for a career built on perseverance and a keen eye for detail.
In 2003 he earned a three‑month fellowship from the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute at Vanderbilt University, and he later completed a bachelor’s degree in communication design at Texas State University. These academic experiences sharpened his visual sensibility and deepened his commitment to inclusive storytelling, qualities that continue to shape his work today.
