New St. Thomas sculpture puts colourful spin on railway roots

The City of St. Thomas has unveiled its newest public artwork, a sculpture titled Imagination Station, which brings a pop of colour to the developing Yarmouth Yards industrial park.

The sculpture, created by Briony Douglas, stands over seven metres tall and depicts a wooden toy train arranged in a circular form. Douglas aimed to create a piece that would evoke feelings of nostalgia and happiness, while also acknowledging the city's train-centric history.

Located at the entrance to Yarmouth Yards, the sculpture is seen as a symbol of the city's industrial growth and a gateway to the community. According to St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston, the city wanted to create an entrance that would not only showcase the industrial park but also welcome people to the community.
