North Wales 'most picturesque village' is crowned and it's not Betws-y-Coed or Portmeirion
Llanbedrog, a compact seaside settlement nestled within the Llŷn Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has been voted the most picturesque village in North Wales by Hotels.com, edging out well‑known rivals such as Llanberis and Portmeirion.
The village’s crown jewel is its sweeping beach, where a row of brightly painted huts lines the sand and the National Trust maintains clean, safe waters. The shoreline offers gentle waves ideal for families and year‑round dog walkers, while a small shop and café provide simple comforts for a relaxed day by the sea.
Dominating the skyline is Plas Glyn y Weddw, an imposing gothic mansion that now serves as Wales’s oldest art gallery. Set within twelve acres of woodland, the venue hosts rotating exhibitions, workshops and an open‑air theatre, drawing over a hundred thousand visitors each year.
