Oak Cliff’s GTZ Art Gallery showcases contemporary Mexican artists
GTZ Art Gallery, tucked into Dallas’s Oak Cliff neighborhood, has quickly become a vibrant hub for contemporary Mexican art. Curated by Josue Gutiérrez, the space blends the energy of his Mexican roots with the eclectic spirit of the local scene, offering visitors a splash of color and cultural dialogue.
A native of Querétaro, Gutiérrez spent seven years in a corporate role at Procter & Gamble before swapping spreadsheets for canvases. After moving to Dallas in 2022 to study restaurant management, a chance studio visit ignited his passion for painting. He launched his first show from his Munger Place home, and a subsequent trip back to Mexico inspired an open‑call that brought ten emerging painters together for the gallery’s inaugural exhibition, "México".
Looking ahead, Gutiérrez envisions four major shows each year, punctuated by collaborations with fashion brands and experimental objects‑of‑art projects. Plans are already afoot for a solo show in 2027 and potential pop‑ups in Berlin and Copenhagen, positioning GTZ as a conduit between Dallas and the broader international art community.
