Odisha: Sudarsan Pattnaik creates "Happy Independence Day, unity in diversity" sand art at Puri beach on 80th Independence Day
On India's 80th Independence Day, Sudarsan Pattnaik, a renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee, created a special patriotic sand sculpture at Puri Beach in Odisha. The artwork, which features the Indian Tricolour at its centre with two peacocks on either side, symbolises India's rich cultural heritage, beauty, and unity.
The 7-foot sand sculpture, created with the support of students from the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute, aims to convey the core values and spirit of the nation. Pattnaik emphasized that the Tricolour inspires people to remain united and work together for a stronger, peaceful, and prosperous country. The sand art is part of the country's celebrations, which are being held across states and Union Territories to commemorate India's independence and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
The occasion serves as a powerful reminder of India's journey as a sovereign nation and its enduring values of unity, peace, democracy, and collective responsibility. Through his sand art, Pattnaik sought to celebrate the spirit of freedom, unity, and patriotism, and to inspire citizens to work together for a stronger and more prosperous India.
