Omkareshwar, Ujjain Will Emerge As Major Global Spiritual Centres, Says CM Mohan Yadav
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unveiled an ambitious plan to launch an 'Ekatma Yatra' that will sweep the nation ahead of Simhastha 2028, aiming to broadcast India’s ancient knowledge traditions and a philosophy of oneness to a global audience.
The centerpiece of the initiative is a grand Panchayatana temple at Ekatma Dham on Mandhata Mountain in Omkareshwar. Built in the classic Nagara style, the structure will rise on a 16‑foot jagati, feature a 26‑foot wide ornate dome, 100 carved pillars, eight subsidiary spires and 121 kalash, all sculpted from pink sandstone.
The temple follows the Panchayatana tradition championed by Adi Shankaracharya, housing a central shrine to Lord Shiva flanked by shrines to Lord Vishnu, Lord Surya, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Shakti. This layout underscores a unifying vision that the same supreme reality is expressed through diverse divine forms.
With the yatra culminating at Simhastha 2028, officials anticipate that Omkareshwar and nearby Ujjain will evolve into major hubs of inner consciousness, drawing pilgrims and seekers from around the world and signaling a revival of ancient Indian architecture and spiritual culture.
