R Rajasree wins 50th Vayalar Literary Award for novel ‘Athreyakam’
R Rajasree's novel Athreyakam has been honoured with the 50th Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Literary Award, a milestone that underscores her impact on contemporary Malayalam fiction.
The prize, administered by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust, carries a cash award of ₹1 lakh, a bronze sculpture crafted by renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, and an official citation. A broad nomination pool—1,620 invitees and 301 submissions covering 258 works—was narrowed down by a panel of judges, including O V Usha, Subhash Chandran and V Vijayakumar, before the final committee made its selection.
The award will be presented on 27 October at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram, with Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan handing over the honor. The ceremony caps the year‑long “Vayalar Year 2025‑26” programme that commemorates the poet’s 50th death anniversary.
