Retrospective celebrates Anupam Sud's six decades in Indian modern art
The new retrospective at National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi offers a sweeping look at Anupam Sud's six‑decade career, charting her evolution from early sketches to mature prints and paintings.
The show, titled In the Etched Trace of Time: Six Decades of Anupam Sud, brings together works from the gallery’s own collection and Dhoominal Gallery, highlighting her pioneering role in printmaking and her ventures into watercolour and oil.
A founding member of the avant‑garde Group 8, Sud helped establish New Delhi as a hub for intaglio, and the exhibition underscores her bold approach to line, composition and narrative‑free expression.
Accompanying the display is a two‑volume publication that blends interviews and essays by artists and scholars, offering deeper insight into her lasting legacy within Indian modernism.
