Satirical sculpture with nude Trump unveiled outside European Parliament
Jens Galschiøt's latest installation, The Orange Plague, has been unveiled on the grounds of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The sculpture shows a naked, 23‑carat gold‑leafed Donald Trump perched atop a frail figure, a striking visual that immediately draws the eye.
Trump holds the scales of justice while a golf club and a golf‑ball globe lie at his feet, a satirical nod to his love of the sport and his perceived influence on global affairs. The weakened figure beneath him suggests the weight of those left vulnerable by his policies.
Known for his politically charged works, Galschiøt says the piece is intended to provoke debate about authoritarianism and the West’s response. Its prominent placement at the Parliament ensures the conversation will echo throughout Europe.
