Sault artist Gabriel George bringing solo show to art gallery
Gabriel George presents his first solo exhibition, Timeless Blend: An Amalgamation of Cultures, at the Art Gallery of Algoma. Opening Friday, Nov. 6, the show runs through Jan. 30, 2027, inviting visitors to wander through a dialogue between global folk traditions and contemporary technology.
Drawing on his roots in Baawaating (Sault Ste. Marie) and the artisanal heritage of Kerala, India, George weaves yarn, wood, and reclaimed tech into sculptural installations that highlight shared geometries and colour palettes across cultures. His background in cinematic art direction and a BFA from OCAD University informs a practice that feels both cinematic and tactile.
The gallery complements the exhibition with an artist talk on Nov. 18 and a hands‑on yarn workshop on Jan. 27, offering deeper insight into his process and the material’s possibilities.
