UP Lalit Kala Akademi opens entries for 36th state art exhibition 2026-27
The Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi has opened its call for entries to the 36th State Art Exhibition (2026‑27), inviting artists across the state to submit works between Oct 1 and Oct 31.
Ten artists whose works are judged outstanding will each receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000, together with a certificate and a memento. The exhibition welcomes submissions in painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic art, printmaking, portraiture, wash painting and traditional art.
Jaiveer Singh, the state’s tourism and culture minister, stresses the region’s rich visual heritage and the need for visibility, recognition and encouragement. He notes that the exhibition offers a platform for artists of different generations and districts to reach a wider audience.
A new two‑tier screening eases participation: entrants first send two 5×7‑inch colour photographs per work; only those shortlisted are asked to dispatch the original pieces to Lucknow for the jury’s final evaluation.
Eligible works must be created after Oct 1 2025 and must not have appeared in any previous state‑level showcase. Paintings may measure up to 4×4 ft, while sculptures should fall between 2×2 ft and 4×4×4 ft. The entry fee is Rs 300 per artist for a single chosen category.
