Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery to showcase distinguished Montana landscape painter
The Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery is mounting a solo exhibition of Clyde Aspevig, the foremost representational landscape painter of our time. Opening on Sept. 22 at 5 p.m., the show will run through Nov. 13 and includes a free public reception.
Born in Montana, Aspevig is celebrated for his expansive depictions of the open skies and rugged terrain of Wyoming and Montana. His work has traveled from the Grand Central Gallery in New York—where he broke a decades‑long gap since Charles Russell—to museums and private collections across the country.
His honors include the National Academy of Western Art Gold Medal, the John J. Geraghty Award from the Autry National Center, the Frederic Remington Award, and the recent Montana Governor’s Art Award for a lifetime of contribution to Western art.
An avid conservationist, Aspevig co‑founded landsnorkel.com to inspire youth to explore the natural world, and he regularly opens his studio for musical performances and collaborations, weaving art and community together.
The exhibition remains on view until mid‑November, with gallery hours Monday‑Friday 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and additional access during WCC performance times.
