Wool Becomes a Language of Emotion at This Textile Art Exhibition
The Voyage Within & Beyond is the title of a new solo exhibition by textile artist Garima Goel, opening on 12 September at the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The show positions wool beyond its familiar craft associations, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where material and feeling intersect.
Goel’s practice treats natural wool as a visual and tactile language. By layering felt, embroidery, beads and colour, she translates inner landscapes—joy, courage, memory—into physical forms that can be touched and lingered with. The exhibition asks the audience to consider belonging as a hue, emotion as texture.
The works hover between sculpture, tapestry and contemporary art, drawing on the Kashmiri Namda tradition while pushing the medium into new scales and configurations. The tactile surfaces encourage close inspection, rewarding the slow, mindful gaze that the artist champions.
The show extends the activities of Emot Studio, Goel’s Delhi‑based studio that explores felted wool across artworks, wearables and functional objects. It follows her recent presentation at the Australian High Commission as part of The Merino Circle 2026, further cementing her reputation in the global wool‑focused dialogue.
Visitors are welcomed to an evening gathering on opening night, and are encouraged to embark on their own inward journey, using the materiality of wool as a bridge between external form and internal feeling.
